What is CAT

CAT is an acronym which stands for Carolina Alliance for Technology. Clinton High School is one of four schools in South Carolina that was awarded the Youth Career Connect Program Grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. The purpose of the grant is to give students hands on training and to ensure they develop problem solving skills, to encourage creativity and collaboration, and to connect student learning to the real world.

What are the benefits of the CAT program?

  • The CAT program prepares students for employment, college, and occupational skills by integrating Academic and Career focused learning by providing students with education and training that combines rigorous academic and career-focused curriculum to increase students’ employability in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Engineering.
  • The CAT program provides work based learning experiences fostered by strong partnerships through companies such as ZF Transmissions of Gray Court, Bosch Rexroth, Laurens County Government, SCANA, Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC, Intel, and Moore Center for Orthopedics which allows students to participate in field trips, job shadowing, leadership field experiences, and mentoring.
  • The CAT program partners with employees who will provide work based learning and mentoring programs, creating a path for students to industries and occupations.

Degrees and Certifications:

M. Ed., GCDF

I am a proud 1985 graduate of CHS! After high school graduation I attended Presbyterian College and recieved my BS in Elementary Education. I moved to Atlanta to teach school and met my husband, Ray. We lived in Georgia for three years before moving back to South Carolina. After teaching for several years, I decided to return to school to get my Masters in School Counseling from Clemson University. I worked at Clinton Elementary as the school counselor for seven years. Ray and I have two children, Joe and Molly. I love the RED DEVILS, and I am excited to be working with our CHS students! I also love our little community, and I am excited to be working with our students and businesses to make Laurens County a better place to work and live!
